Welcome To My New Adventure!

Well, I've finally gotten myself together and have published this website so I can begin letting my friends and others know about my novel, "Love Letters From Appalachia" which I hope to have published next spring. One thing I've learned about fiction writing is that it's not like giving birth - that was easy and only took nine months, two weeks, twelve hours, and 43 minutes to do (yes, I know down to the last second). I've been working on this project for years in my mind and in reality about 18 months. Writing is hard work. Editing is even harder, and putting your work out for public view and criticism is the stuff of nightmares. In October, I should have the manuscript ready to ask for volunteers to act as Beta readers - I am limiting the number to 12 - so they can give it to me with both barrels, so to speak and I can cry about it for a week, then do some hardcore editing based on what was liked and what was not. Then it's to a professional editor, more "murdering the baby," as Stephen King likes to call it, and hopefully publication by next year.

I'll be publishing updates here and trying out some short stories for you to read if you choose to do so; if you do, I would love to know what you think. Honesty is always welcome, and tactfulness is appreciated. I understand "I really didn't get into this" without it getting personal.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope to have a short excerpt of the manuscript available soon. I can't wait to share my adventure with you!
